Leica iCON Trades – New Software Release: Version 1.2
When millimetres matter, your tools can make or break the job. Whether you’re installing bespoke staircases, marking out for a luxury fit-out, or measuring a tilted facade from a floating platform, precision is everything.
That’s why Leica Geosystems has released the much-anticipated Software Version 1.2 (V1.2) for the iCS20 and iCS50 Precision Laser Measurers – delivering powerful new features designed to make precision measurement faster, easier, and more versatile.
Whether you work in construction, architecture, fabrication, property management, fit-out, marine, AV installation, custom furniture, windows and doors, or kitchens, bedrooms and bathrooms, this update is built to help you work smarter.
In this blog, we’ll recap what the iCON trades software offers, then highlight the new tools and capabilities in V1.2.
What is Leica iCON Trades?
Designed specifically for trade professionals, iCON trades software follows industry-specific workflows to simplify fast and accurate measurements — from straightforward jobs to complex shapes and layouts, indoors or outdoors.
It ensures a seamless data flow: capture and edit CAD data on site, create your model in CAD software, send it straight to CNC production, then complete installation with precision.
There are three tailored variants:

Leica iCON FAQs
Check & Adjust
Automatically calibrate your iCS20/50 in the software to confirm accuracy and make instant adjustments – no downtime.
Orient to Object & Moving Platform Mode
This groundbreaking new feature allows to setup relative to an object. Use a physical object as your coordinate reference — ideal for prefabrication checks or non-horizontal 2D layout of objects like facades or tilted planes. The Moving Platform Mode allows set up on moving objects, such as boats, unlocking entirely new application possibilities for laser, vPEN, and vPOLE measurements and layout.
New Measurement & Drawing Tools
- 2D Sloped Plane creation (3-point input)
- New Point Tool (add via coordinates or snapping)
- Sketch Tool (draw plans without imported data)
- “Divide Line – From Point” option in the “Divide” tool
Object Smoothing (Digital Templating “CNC Ready” licence only)
Automatically straighten “almost straight” polylines for cleaner CNC outputs.
Capture Photos
Take photos with your tablet and attach them to job files for clearer documentation.
Auto Spotlight
Better visibility for vPEN users in low-light conditions.
Layout Surface Intersections
Pinpoint where surfaces meet — perfect for marking pipe penetrations.
Additional Language Support
Now available in Russian.
Final Thoughts
With V1.2, Leica iCON trades is more versatile, accurate, and user-friendly than ever — ideal for applications such as metal fabrication (staircases, balustrades, gates), high-end interiors (custom furniture, kitchens, bedrooms, bathrooms), window/door installations, shopfitting, property management, van interiors, marine work, and event installations.
